The Swedish Chef, real name Bjorn Cjocksjucka, was originally a temporary replacement for Animal, who's problems with substance abuse have already been documented elsewhere. He was such a hit that he was asked to stay on, and once visa issues were resolved Mr. Cjocksjucka moved permanently to NYC where he settled into an apartment on the Lower East Side and was often found hobnobbing with NYC's underground intelligencia such as John Cale and Laurie Anderson. He served as best man at John Malcovich's first wedding, and was a regular fixture at CBGBs, often joining bands such as Blondie and Television onstage.
Sadly, Mr. Cjocksjucka passed away in 1997 of untreated Hepatitis C complications. He is survived bby long-time companion Pietro and several horses.
