More like "any time you favorite this post you lower the signal to noise ratio of the 'recently favorited' box." I mean not to be a sour crank or anything, but come on! The new front page is disappointing enough without a no-content taking up spots on it repeatedly. And no offense to your pup obviously, I just think "the most favorited post on Vox" should have a bit more....I dunno - anything.
The offensive flag should keep this off the front page anyways shouldn't it? If that was the intent sorry to bitch at you for something you weren't trying to do.
Dear BooDoo, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were doing important work on VOX that couldn't be disturbed. I hope your day wasn't oppressed TOO much, and I'm glad you were able to mark my post offensive so as to not have it sully the front page, which we've all decided should be reserved for very important work.
As far as what qualifies something to be "the most favorited post on VOX", I just promised it'd be favorited, not good.
I didn't mark your post offensive, it was like that when I got here! I might come into your house and talk shit about your rug, but I wouldn't piss on it— I know my limits. Aside from that it's in the "Recently Favorited" regardless of offensive status, which may well be a bug but one that benefits your little social experiment in any case.
Never claimed the most favorited post on Vox should be important or work, just something—anything at all. In any case, I wouldn't be so concerned if it weren't perpetuating as any waterhead who sees it on the front page will want to be part of the cool club propelling it to internet superstardom.
It's been nice meeting you as well, your stick figure self-portrait is adorable.
Why thanks, BooDoo. And I apologize for throwing blame in your direction. I now see that you are a person of character. I look forward to more vox interaction with you.
The "ridiculous" favorite count was achieved one click at a time by individual users of the system, Dog Breath. You don't get to make unilateral decisions about what others can favorite and what they can't.
It is part of online communities (and so is some people getting pissed off at the people who are playing).
I'm sure Howard wrote about something similar over a decade ago in the Virtual Community.
And perhaps now vox will add a more recently favorited link at the bottom, so all those really important world changing posts aren't lost when something like this happens (or people are just curious about other favorited posts).
PLAY?! Damn it, this the BLOGOSPHERE. We don't play around here. With people gaming the valuable "Most Favorited" list, how will I know what is truly popular amongst thousands of people I don't know? And without that valuable knowledge, how will I know what I should favorite myself?
Way to go, KING OF VOX. Way to ruin it for us all.
the most favorited post remains on top of the recent favorited board.
and i don't mind at all! i'm glad i favorited this a while ago. the
board on the homepage is to let people know what's becoming a favorite,
and if yuo people don't like it... then create something that'll get
more favorites, DUH! jealousy is ridiculous. if you hate it, fight fire
with fire, not flame the creator of the post! JEEEEEEZ!!!!

Anyway, it's great to meet you.
